The Sahara Forest Project Pilot Facility was opened by HH the Heir Apparent Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on Tuesday December 11th. The Heir Apparent also enjoyed a tour of the pilot facility, developed by Yara, Qafco and The Sahara Forest Project.
Green growth taking root in the desert
The first cucumbers grown in the desert using seawater and solar power were served to participants at UN Climate Negotiations in Doha. After a ten-month intense construction period, invited guests enjoyed the first tours of the Sahara Forest Project pilot facility, realized by Yara, Qafco and The Sahara Forest Project.

Today the first cucumbers from The Sahara Forest Project Pilot Facility were served to VIP guests and workers at the pilot facility inside Measaieed Industrial City in Qatar. UN Climate Negotiations, COP18, Doha, Qatar
The Sahara Forest Project is now participating at the UN Climate Negotiations, COP18. The negotiations take place in Qatar, Doha from 26th of November until 7th of December. Together with The Bellona Foundation, The Sahara Forest Project hosts an exhibition room, meeting room and auditorium inside the delegation area of the conference.
Plans for green growth in the Jordan deserts
In the presence of HRH Crown Prince Haakon of Norway and the Jordanian Minister of Environment, HE Yaseen Khayyat, The Sahara Forest Project presented for the first time the results of their feasibility studies for Jordan. The seminar arranged by The Sahara Forest Project and The Norwegian Embassy to Amman brought together a wide range of international and Jordanian delegates from academia, industry, governments and organizations. The event took place by the Dead Sea on the 24th and highlighted opportunities arising from an integrated approach to the challenges of food, water and energy security in responding to the challenge of climate change.
